Industry Training Services
ITS has been an RTO for over 7 years specializing in Hospitality training with a leaning toward people wishing to find work in the industry for the first time. The majority of trainers have been with us for over 3 years and have a wealth of industry experience.
Course Background
Our most popular course we offer is the Bar Skills training programme with the RSA (SITHFAB201) and RSG (SITHGAM201). This is generally offered over a 2 or 3 consecutive day or night period with the hours being 9am to 3.30pm or 3.30pm to 10pm.
This short course is particularly targeted at students who have minimal or no hospitality industry experience but wish to gain the start up knowledge to have the confidence to approach employers willing to give them a start.
As much as the course provides an accredited Statement of Attainment and there is a strong emphasis on keeping a practical element to the course. By using facilities such as the QA Hotel and the Aspley hotel to name a few we can use the latest of industry equipment for training in the areas of Beer pouring, hygiene practices, cocktails and mixed drinks preparation, and Restaurant service to name a few.
Over many years we have developed a strong relationship with these venues and keep our training current through direct feedback from employers.
Where possible venues training are chosen for good access to public transport.
The units covered on this course are:
- SITXFSA001: Use Hygienic Practices for Food Safety
- SITHFAB201: RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol)
- SITHGAM201: RSG (Responsible Service of Gambling)
Tailored Courses
ITS can also develop courses to meet your specific requirements for clients. In the past this may have meant our regular FFS course conducted solely for a particular JSA provider with content included to reflect the needs of students who need extra practical training in the skills of interviews with Hospitality employers.
Other options include Prepare and serve espresso coffee (SITHFAB204), RSA and or RSG training only.
Enrolling a Client
If you have decided a client is suitable to do one of our courses then call our office to initially book them into a location (see our timetable on this website). Please remind them to bring their USI (Unique Student Identifier) to the course as we won’t be able to issue a Statement without it.
We will load them onto the course and give you any extra details to be aware of. Fax or email a Purchase order which includes the clients contact number and what location they are doing the course at.
Our Expectations of Students
- Smart casual dress (black and white ideal but not mandatory) and closed in shoes
- Arrive 10 minutes early to complete enrolment forms
- Transport issues addressed
- A willingness to partake in all aspects of the course
- Eat before coming to the course (breaks will however be incorporated)
- If at last minute can’t attend contact our office to inform
If students are under 18 years of age and not completed their QCE we will need a LUI (Learner Unique Identifier) number from them.
Many JSA clients have attended our courses and feedback is constantly taken from them in the form of Course surveys and follow up post course phone calls. Although rare, any negative feedback is quickly acted upon for continuous improvement.
